BREAKING NEWS: Lofton's First Steps

We have breaking news in our household...Friday night, Lofton took his first steps!! Let me set the scene: We were hosting our Sunday School class to dessert at our house after a good dinner at the Loveless Cafe. Lofton felt confident with everyone on his turf and had been showing all his skills--dancing, telling people he was "1" and SO BIG, chattering up a storm...all his tricks! He and a guy in our class, Matt, were hitting it off and next thing we knew, Matt was encouraging Lofton to take a few steps his way. David and I wanted to let Matt know Lofton wasn't showing signs he was interested in walking yet and hadn't been standing on his own from the middle of the floor either, but Matt seemed too encouraged to let down. Next thing we know, Lofton stands in the middle of the floor and takes a few steps!!! We went nuts, while all the people in the room (non-parents) looked confused, thinking surely he had done that before?! NOPE...we all got to witness Lofton's first steps! David quickly got his phone's video camera out and caught the next few moments and steps LIVE!
Since Friday, Lofton has mastered anywhere from 10-12 steps at a time and still stand up and balance about anywhere with no help or support. I think it's official that we have a walker and the life of sitting and watching him play is now over, just in time for summer, being outside, playing in the street and running around pools!! :) It's on.
